Aguapé Lodge I

4 days and 3 nights

Aguapé Lodge has a corresponding architectural design to a classic provincial style. Located on the shores of Laguna Ibera and in the centre of the Natural Reserve of Ibera (the largest protected area in Argentina), will let you appreciate a panoramic view of the marshes and the lagoon. An ideal place to enjoy nature.

Day 1: Check-in

Arrival at the Inn and check-in in the afternoon 3 PM. Welcome drink with delicious “chipás” (small, baked, cheese rolls) from Corrientes. Later a coffe break and at night, dinner at the Inn.

Day 2: Full Day (Watching the indigenous fauna – Activity Walk in the gallery forest)

After breakfast there is a guided activity in the morning, starting from the Inn’s pier in a motorboat to watch the indigenous fauna. Then navigating to the Corrientes stream and watching the fauna among the floating islands in the Iberá Lagoon. Capybaras, caimans, marsh deer and water birds can be seen in this habitat.

Later, lunch will be served at the Inn and there will be time to rest/free time.

After a coffee break the afternoon excursion starts: a walk in the gallery forest and interpretation trails, including a visit to the interpretation center. Walking through these trails will allow you to watch the howler monkeys, the mothers with their babies. It is also possible to see brown brockets, wildcats and white-tailed deer.

Dinner at the Inn

Day 3: Full Day (Watching the fauna with guide – Guided walk / Night Safari or Horse riding in the Iberá wetlands)

After breakfast, the morning excursion is an outing in a motorboat with a guide to watch the fauna.
Later, lunch and time to rest/free time.
After a coffee break, the afternoon excursion starts. There are three options:

1. Guided walk through the Wetlands and Paso Claro or Camba Trapo Sabanas (a guided walk through a varied and fantastic landscape, passing the grassland to watch the white woodpecker. Then through the caranday palm zone and arriving at the shore of the lake, where it is possible to watch groups of marsh deer, families of capybaras and southern screamers (birds).

2. Night Safari (free afternoon). The trip starts either in a 4X4 or in a motorboat, (depending on the time of the year) towards the Interpretation Center of the Reservation to enjoy the sunset in the lagoon. The walk at dusk will let you hear new sounds and sensations, repeating the same itinerary which was done by day. Each person must carry a powerful flashlight, because the land is irregular and you will be watching nocturnal animals such as southern viscacha, crab-eating raccoons and owls.

3. Horse riding in the Iberá wetlands (this is the only activity in the day, either the morning or the afternoon are free). The guides prepare the horses, and are in charge of adjusting stirrups and saddles. Then you wil horse ride slowly, crossing the town and entering the palm zone, bordering the lagoon.

Ending with dinner at the Inn.
