Trekking and adventure: Calafate and Torres del Paine

10 days and 9 nights

Trip to Calafate and Torres del Paine: glaciers, mountains, lakes and beautiful trails connecting Argentina and Chile in a 10-day adventure.

Day 1: Arrival in Calafate. Afternoon Estancia and Countryside experience

In the evening, we will visit Estancia Nibepo Aike to enjoy the natural environment of the countryside and have a delicious welcome dinner to the land of the glaciers.

Day 2: Ice Trekking at Perito Moreno Glacier

We will embark in the Bajo de las Sombras port, and after 20 minutes of sailing, we will reach the southwest coast, accessing the refuge to start the trek on the Glacier. We will start a walk along the shore until we reach the edge of the ice. The  Ice trekking at Perito Moreno Glacier  is an hour and a half long.

Day 3: Glaciers Gourmet Sailing Experience

Today we will head towards the Argentino Lake during the  Glaciers Gourmet Sailing Experience  to board a cruise to explore it. After two hours of sailing we will observe icebergs of various sizes and shades of blue and white. We will go on towards the Spegazzini Channel where a close-up navigation will allow us to have a stunning view of the Spegazzini Glacier.
At De las Vacas port, we can take a walk to reach several and stunning lookout points.

Day 4: El Calafate – Torres del Paine

After breakfast we depart to  Torres del Paine National Park  and on the way, we will make different panoramic stops to appreciate the landscape. We will have lunch on the banks of the Paine River to finally reach  Salto Grande,  where we will start a 2-hour trek of the reach the lookout point of  Cuernos del Paine.
On the bus ride we will receive all the documents to start the Circuit W. Night in shelter.

Day 5: Torres del Paine – Trekking Base Torres Viewpoint

Early in the morning we will depart for  Base Torres viewpoint.  We will climb 3 kilometers until we reach the Paso de los Vientos, then reaching the Chilean Refuge. After lunch, the hardest part of the trek begins, hiking along a rocky path to reach the Base Torres Viewpoint. Later we will descend to the Central Sector for dinner and sleep.

Day 6: Torres del Paine – Trekking French Sector

Today we will hike about 13.5 kilometers bordering  Lake Nordenskjöld,  Almirante Nieto Mount  and the impressive  Cuernos del Paine.  During the journey we will see hanging glaciers, lakes and areas to appreciate the vast flora and fauna. Night in French Sector.

Day 7: Torres del Paine – Trekking French Valley

Our day begins hiking in one of the most important parts of the entire circuit: the  French Valley.  We´ll do a gentle walk until we reach the  Italian Camp.  From there, we´ll ascend about 2 kilometers in the forest to get to the French River Valley viewpoint. Finally, we will start descending to the  Paine Grande Sector  and stay the night in a shelter.

Day 8: Torres del Paine – Trekking Glacier Grey Sector

Today we´ll explore the last part of National Park:  IceTrekking in the Gray Glacier. The path begins bordering Paine Grande Mount with incredible views of hanging glaciers. Hiking among native trees, we will arrive at the first viewpoint to see several icebergs floating in  Gray Lake.  We will continue until we reach the refuge and finally, we will return to rest in Paine Grande sector.  

Day 9: Torres del Paine - Calafate

To return we will take the catamaran that will leave us in Pudeto to connect with a bus to the Laguna Amarga entrance and then to Calafate

Day 10: El Calafate – End of the Tour

Say goodbye and transfer to the airport.

Calafate
 

El Calafate is located in the province of Santa Cruz, Argentina, on the shore of the Lago Argentino, an incredible place to enjoy peace and nature. From there you can appreciate the characteristic Patagonian landscape, its flora and its fauna. The Calafate creek, which divides the city in two, is a backwater with a rocky bed, surrounded by willows growing on its banks. This city is the nearest place to the Glaciers National Park and its famous Perito Moreno Glacier.

The Torres del Paine National Park is one of the eleven protected areas in the Chilean Patagonia; together they cover 6,728,744 hectares.Any time of the year is possible for traveling to the Torres del Paine National Park, either from the city of Punta Arenas or from Puerto Natales. This National Park presents a great variety of flora and fauna. There are mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes and glaciers which make it an ideal destination for adventure sports. Following different trails you can admire the surrounding natural beauties.
