Day 1: Esquel

Arrival at Esquel airport to pick up the rental car.

Day 2: Waterfalls and vineyards, old mill and Trevelín

Going southward on route 259 we will stop at the famous Nant and Fall waterfalls. Inside the Nature Reserve we will continue on foot along an interpretive path in the middle of a forest. On the return we will visit the Vineyards, where the most southern wine of the world is produced. Continuing southward we will arrive at the Nant Fech Flour Mill and on our last stop we will visit the town of Trevelín.

Day 3: Ice tunnels in the National Park

Today we leave our car and a 4x4 vehicle will pick us up to take us to La Torta Mount, touring part of the Los Alerces National Park.  From there, our trek starts bordering the Irigoyen creek. After a few minutes we will arrive at an impressive waterfall of 45 meters high, where incredible ice tunnels are formed below.
NOTE: This excursion takes place only in February and March. During the rest of the months it will be replaced by another visit to Los Alerces National Park.

Day 4: Trekking to Torrecillas Glacier

We will travel to Puerto Chucao and after a short hike along the banks of the Menéndez River we will sail on the Lake for about 40 minutes to reach Puerto Nuevo. We will do a 1.30 / 2 hour trek in one of the most beautiful landscapes of the National Park: the Valdivian forest. Then we will continue to the Del Antiguo Lagoon, located at the foot of the spectacular Torrecillas Glacier.

Day 5: El Hoyo Labyrinth, El Bolsón, Bariloche

We say goodbye to Esquel and travel to a Patagonian Labyrinth, just 4 kilometers from El Hoyo, We will have a second breakfast in a beautiful tea house.  Our second stop will be the town of El Bolsón and we will have some free time to walk around the craft fair and see a forest nursery. Late in the evening we will arrive in San Carlos de Bariloche.

Day 6: Small Circuit and tea at Llao Llao Hotel

Tour the  Small Circuit along wonderful landscapes in the surroundings having the best views. Nahuel Huapi Lake and Campanario mount are among the highlights of this experience. If we want, we can enjoy a delicious lunch in Colonia Suiza to continue our way to Villa Tacul and reach the San Eduardo Chapel. In the afternoon, we will enjoy an exquisite tea in Llao Llao Hotel.

Day 7: Tronador Mount

We will travel southward to take route 40 and then route 82 to reach the Tronador mount. Inside Nahuel Huapi National Park, we will continue our way to reach the Lookout point of Tronador mount and Ventisquero Negro, a giant glacier with brownish blocks formed by avalanches of ice and mud. Before going back to Bariloche, we can do a short trek to reach a small waterfall.

Day 8: Bariloche – Villa La Angostura

We say goodbye to Bariloche. We hit the road again and after an hour and a half we will arrive to Villa La Angostura.

Day 9: Villa Traful and Valle Encantado – San Martín de los Andes

We continue our self drive trip and enter in the Heart of the Lakes, a region that has unforgettable landscapes, pure nature, archaeological sites and authentic Mountain Villages. We will arrive in Villa Traful and have some free time to walk around this little Patagonian town. In the afternoon, we will hit the road again to drive up to San Martín de los Andes.

Day 10: Hua Hum and Cachin Waterfall

Explore skirting the Lacar Lake along a gravel road: a zigzagging circuit immersed in the forest, a wooden bridge to cross the Hua hum River and a hike to reach Chachín waterfall, 30 meters high. On the way back we will stop at the Hua Hum river beach in the beautiful Yuco peninsula, being in the heart of Lanín National Park.

Day 11: Huechulafquen Lake and Lanin Volcano

Hike through Huechulafquen Lake, and then go deep into the Andean-Patagonian forest. Enjoy lunch at a typical country-side restaurant to then continue the journey to reach the volcanic Lake Paimún at the foot of the Lanín Volcano.

Day 12: Villa Pehuenia

This is the last day of our self drive adventure trip.  We will drive heading north passing by the town of Junín de los Andes and bordering Aluminé Lake till we reach our last destination: Villa Pehuenia, home to the Batea Mahuida ski center, managed by the Mapuche community. We will have free time know the town and enjoy some of its beaches. In the afternoon, we will start the return trip to San Martín de los Andes.

Day 13: San Martín de los Andes

After saying goodbye we drive to Chapelco Aiport and drop-off our car.
