Salta is a well preserved colonial city and is also the starting point destination to visit the different landscapes in this zone. A good option is to take the famous Train to the Clouds, a masterpiece of engineering. Travelling to the north, La Puna and Salinas Grandes (Salt Fields) are an impacting destination which shows a completely different way of life.

The city is surrounded by an amazing landscape and it is a tourist attraction for thousands of travelers. Its steep cobbled streets where time seems to stand still. The simplicity and kindness of its people make this city and ideal place to visit. The city of Salta is one of the Argentine cities which has most kept its colonial architecture.

Any time of the year is recommendable for travelling to this region, although the best time for visiting Salta and the North West is from March to November to avoid the summer months which can be very hot during the day.
