Ameghino Dam

During the visit to theAmeghino Damwe can see the reservoir and the emerald lake, which contrast with the reddish colors of its surrounding walls. We’ll tour the provincial road 25, which connects the coast with the mountains in Chubut Province.

As we ride the route, the plateau flat landscape will gradually rise until we arrive to Florentino Ameghino Dam, a magnificent hydraulic engineering work. We will observe an emerald green lake enclosed among 200 m high red walls formed by volcanic activity during the Jurassic period.

The dam generates the power used in the region. We will take interpretation walks along natural paths, visit some caves dug into the rock by erosion and enjoy the afternoon by the Chubut River.

By 6:30 pm we will start the return trip.
