The hotel was built in the 40’s by the renowned Argentine architect Alejandro Bustillo, who is also famous for having built the traditional Llao Llao Hotel in Bariloche, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Banco Nación of Argentina and the Provincial Hotel in Mar del Plata.

The hotel is a historic icon in Puerto Iguazú. Its construction marked the beginning of the golden period in Iguazú and the development of tourism in the region. Due to the recession of the 80’s the hotel was closed and it reopened in March 2007, after being abandoned for twenty years. The building and gardens have been completely renewed by the present owners, achieving its unique character.
