In this Safari Experience learn all about the flora and fauna of this beautiful land as well as the geological aspects of it. Enjoy with tales of the first settlers and have a Patagonian Stew at a very typical spot.

The tour starts entering the Estancia 25 de Mayo Natural Reserve (surface: 16.000 hectares / 39.500 acres), which lays in the border between El Calafate and Chile.

The safari has several stops, which will allow us to participate in geological interpretations of the area, observe marine fossils and watch guanacos, among other species from native fauna, and learn about the contemporary rural life.

The trip will show us the location where the Villalba family, first owners of the estancia, used to live.

Following the stream of the Calafate creek, we will gain altitude and so we will observe how the flora changes.

Towards the Chilean border, there is a stunning panoramic view of the Baguales and Centinela Mountains, the summits mark the border between Argentina and Chile.

Once back in the canyon (“quebrada”), it is time to taste a Patagonic stew, homemade bread and cheese at “La sección”, a spot where “baqueanos” used to stop by when they were herding cattle in these areas. After lunch, we will return to El Calafate.
