In 1932, this hotel was originally built to accommodate the increasing number of European visitors that came to Buenos Aires in those days; the Alvear Palace became a model of the highest expression of refinement. Mr. de Miero, a man who was well known in the highest levels of society and business in Buenos Aires in the 30s, was who brought the first plans from Paris, which would be the beginning of this ambitious project.

He was assisted by the designer Verschere, the architects Pirovano and Brodsky –who was to design its beautiful façade-, the engineers Escudero and Ortúzar, and the architect Medhurst Thomas and his partner G. E. Harris, who carried out the construction of the building and decorated it.

The majestic rooms and suites, the lobby and public areas are reminiscent of the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles,which can be appreciated in the furniture, crystal chandeliers, walls decorated with gold leaf and works of art of famous artists.

This luxurious building on the corner of Alvear Avenue and Ayacucho Street, with its eleven floors and five basement levels, stands as an undisputed symbol of the city.

The second foundation
