Getaway to Calafate and Perito Moreno Glacier

4 days and 3 nights

On this tour you will have the opportunity to visit the unforgettable city of El Calafate, where you will visit some of the wonders in the Argentine Patagonia. You will visit the amazing Perito Moreno Glacier and from the glacier you will admire the indigenous flora and fauna of the Glaciers National Park.

Day 1: Buenos Aires – Calafate

Breakfast and transfer to the airport in Buenos Aires to board the flight to Calafate. Arrival in Calafate y transfer to the chosen hotel. Check-in and rest of the day, free.

Day 2: Visit to the Moreno Glacier

Breakfast and a full day activity to the Perito Moreno Glacier, the most famous of the glaciers, declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The glacier covers an area of 195 square meters, its width is 5 km and the height of its ice walls is up to 60 meters above the lake’s level. As you follow the catwalks you will be led to face the glacier and admire it in all its grandeur. Consult about the extra charge for the minitrekking activity on the glacier, accompanied by mountain guides for a two hour circuit. Then you will stop for lunch at a shelter (take a lunch box with you) and then back to the catwalks where you will spend an hour and a half watching the most incredible views and calving activity. Back to the hotel.

Day 3: Free Day for Optional Activities

Breakfast. On this free day we recommend an optional activity to the ranch “Estancia Cristina”. The activity involves navigating the Lago Argentino among huge ice floes and magnificent views of the western front of the Glaciar Upsala, continuing through the Cristina Canal to the disembarkation point at the Estancia Cristina where there are many activities to do. Another good option is Navegación Todo Glaciares (navigating all the glaciers) visiting the front of the Glaciar Upsala and disembarking at Bahía Onelli (only if the ice barrier allows it), then navigating the surroundings of the Perito Moreno Glacier. Another shorter and cheaper option is Navegación Ríos de Hielo (navigating frozen rivers), navigating the Lago Argentino, but without passing the sites which have been mentioned, this is an excellent option for those who have already visited the Perito Moreno Glacier before. Back to the hotel. Overnight.
